DIGNITY FOR EVERY DAUGHTER : Seeds of Grace, Assam Rifles distribute menstrual products in Kiphire villages

Seeds of Grace, Assam Rifles distributed reusable menstrual hygiene products in Kiphire villages.

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): Women in the remote border villages of Thanamir and Mimi in Kiphire district received reusable menstrual hygiene products on September 11 under an initiative by the Assam Rifles in collaboration with Seeds of Grace Trust, a Shamator-based NGO.

The programme, held on September 11, was aimed at promoting sustainable menstrual health through the distribution of period panties, which are reusable for up to three years, stated PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh in a press release.

The initiative was supported by an officer of the Assam Rifles, his childhood friend Malay Mishra, and local social worker A. Kumrila, founder of Seeds of Grace Trust and Vice President of the Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organisation (ENWO).

Speaking at the event, Kumrila said, “These women are my sisters and mothers. No woman should suffer silently because of geography. This is just the beginning,” while reiterating her commitment to work for education, health and livelihoods in Eastern Nagaland.

The press release informed that the product is not only cost-effective and eco-friendly but also offers a long-term solution for border communities where access to sanitary products is limited and fragile ecosystems are at risk from disposable waste.

Women from the villages expressed gratitude to the organisers, terming the initiative a step towards dignity and improved health.
