‘Dikhu Hydro Project needs to be stopped’

Longleng, August 24 (MExN): The Tamlu village council has appealed to the Commissioner  & Secretary of Power, Nagaland that the Dikhu Hydro Project needs to be stopped in the interest of Tamlu area. In a letter to the Commissioner & Secretary of Power, the said council stated that the village elders, public leaders of the effected villages under Longleng district held a meeting on June 26 at Tamlu town and has passed resolutions to stop the proposed Dikhu Hydro Project.

It mentioned that about 90% of the agriculture land is likely to be submerged. The only road which is under construction, linking the district HQ will be submerged along with the bridge over the river. 

In another seperate press note issued by the chairman of YVC stated that the Yongnyah Village Council (YVC) of Longleng district and Wanching Village Council (WVC) of Mon district, in connection to the said project conducted a meeting at Yongyah village on August 1. It mentioned that the decision which was taken in the joint meeting of the two councils, held on July 26 will be final and that no changes will be made there after.
