Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): In the backdrop of a dispute with the “Indian army” and unauthorized land allotment by certain persons, a joint meeting of Dikoi village was held in New Chumukedima on the 20th. In the meeting, discussions were held in regard to resettlement of the village, unauthorized printing of land allotment forms etc. Towards this effect, a number or decisions were taken, informed the Dikoi Village Council.
A copy of the resolutions received here from the council directed all who had “got land” allotment from one Praneio, a GB, to submit their respective land documents claimed within Dikoi village on or before November 30. The village council stated that there is no sufficient land in the village. For this the village will no longer allot land after the expiry of the stipulated date (November 30, 2007).
The council also stated that it has decided not to claim any amount of money from Praneio and “that whatever amount collected from the interested persons and enrolled him/her as a Dikoi villager that the Dikoi Village Council will not take any responsibilities.” It was decided that “unless” the village “win the case” in the court, resettlement of the village “is out of question.” “As such if Mr. Praneio and his group fail to join hands with the village authority while fighting the villagers’ right from the court, Mr. Praneio and his group will have no right to be claimed as a Dikoi villager after finalization of the pending case from the court” the resolution stated.
The meeting decided to approach the competent authority to look into the matter. It also queried ‘why the government recognized village of Dikoi was destroyed by the Indian Army without any color of authority.”
