Dillai Gate gets new Police Post building

Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): A new Police Post building was inaugurated at Dillai Gate, Dimapur, on Saturday. Director General Police Nagaland, T John Longkumer who graced the occasion, advised the police personnel who would be posted at the border gates to use the building as a ‘house of respect’ and create a good image of Nagaland Police force.


Longkumer reminded the police personnel to be efficient, polite and kind while emphasizing on their roles as protectors. “You are here to give protection to the citizens and not to harass and therefore, stern action would be initiated in such instances,” the police chief warned. 


The DGP also congratulated the Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo and DCP Zone 2, Atula, for completing the works and making it functional within a short period of time.


On the occasion, Longkumer also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Team Dimapur including the medical fraternity, churches, civil societies, NGOs and individuals for rendering their sacrifice in the fight against COVID 19. “You have all done very well and I will say your performance was simply outstanding,” he added.


Commissioner Rothihu Tetseo said the establishment of the Police Post building would be important in the history of the Nagas. He appealed to the people living in the border areas to understand the significance of it and solicited their support and cooperation. He informed that the construction work of the building which commenced on April 30, 2020, was completed within a record time of 2 months with quality workmanship, the DIPR reported. 


Nagaland APC and in-charge of Dimapur district COVID 19 activities, Y Kikheto Sema also spoke on the occasion, and called on residents in the border areas to maintain peaceful and cordial relations with the immediate neighbours. Kikheto also advised the personnel who would be manning the post to maintain sanctity of the place. 


According to the DIPR, Kikheto also donated a refrigerator to the new facility on behalf of his family. EAC (Sardar) Bendang Longkumer, on behalf of the district administration, congratulated Dimapur police and assured support and coordination between the District Administration and Dimapur Police to make Dimapur a better place to live in.


Chairman Rilan village, John Kikon extended appreciation to the Government of Nagaland for establishing the Police Post, terming it as “a dream come true.” Kikon observed that it would benefit the people living in the border areas.


Chairman, Aokong village, said that it was a long awaited day as assured of full cooperation to the Police department.


According to the DIPR, hosts of police officials and other rank and file of police, villagers from the bordering villages attended the inaugural function. ADCP (Crime) Relo Aye chaired the program while Pastor, PBC, Rev Levi Rakho invoked the dedicatory prayer.
