National Domestic Workers Movement in collaboration with the Assisi Centre for Integrated Development observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Dilowjan on June 26.

DIMAPUR, JUNE 26 (MExN): The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at Dilowjan on Thursday, organised by the National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM), Nagaland Region, in collaboration with the Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID).
The event began at 12 noon and was attended by 25 participants. Ms Kiran delivered the welcome address.
Speaking on the occasion, Sr Pramila underlined that drug abuse poses a serious threat to society, destroying individuals, families, and communities. She said youth often fall into addiction due to curiosity, peer pressure, or stress, without realising its long-term impact on their physical, mental, and emotional health.
“This day reminds us that prevention is better than cure,” she said, emphasising the need to spread awareness, educate people, and build strong support systems to prevent drug abuse before it takes hold.
She further urged the gathering to educate themselves and others about the dangers of drug abuse,
promote healthy lifestyles and positive coping mechanisms, support those struggling with addiction with compassion instead of judgment and back strict action against the illegal drug trade.
“Together, we must break the silence and take a stand—for a brighter, healthier, and drug-free future,” she stated.
