Dimapur: 3 arrested for kidnapping

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20 (MExN): Three persons have been arrested by Dimapur Police on charges of kidnapping a person for ransom.  

The three persons were identified as Yaruingau Keishing (38), Wangreingam Hungyo (23) and Thangmeiso Hungyo (22).  

A press note from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed that the three were arrested on November 19 based on a complaint that "a non local person" (name withheld) was kidnapped, following which unknown miscreants demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakhs for his release.  

Subsequently, a special police team was able to locate and rescue the victim from a hotel in Dimapur town.  

During the police operation one person namely Wangreingam was nabbed from the hotel room where the victim was illegally confined. Subsequently the mastermind namely Yaruingau along with his accomplice Thangmeiso were arrested from a different location within Dimapur town, police informed.  

The PRO added that as per initial police interrogation, the kidnappers had relocated the victim in different hotels to avoid police vigilance.  

While informing that the arrest was affected promptly before any ransom could be made, Dimapur Police informed that three mobile phones and four active SIM cards were also seized from the arrested persons. A case has been registered regarding this at East Police Station.
