Dimapur: Assam Rifles lift debate competition on human rights

Dimapur, November 7 (MExN): The North East Zone NHRC inter CAPFs debate competition on human rights was held at ARTC&S, Dimapur through webinar in which six CAPFs participated on November 7. The main aim of the debate was to sensitise the importance of strict adherence to human rights while dealing with the public, according to a press release. 

A total of 24 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English with 12 speakers each ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion. Assam Rifles secured the 1st position and ITBP secured 2nd position in English language debate category, while the Assam Rifles secured 1st position and ITBP secured 2nd position in the Hindi language category, it said.

The best teams in both the English and Hindi categories namely Assam Rifles and ITBP have been selected to represent the North East zone in the Semi-Finals of Inter-CAPF debate competition scheduled to be held by November 15-16, the release stated.

Colonel Rajiv Chaudhry, Sena Medal & Bar, Deputy Commandant, ARTC&S, Dimapur appreciated the efforts put in by the participants and made a special reference to the efficient conduct of the event by the organizers. He conveyed good wishes to prize winning teams for semi-finals and finals round of debate competition to be held in this month at various locations through webinar/offline. 

AS per the release, six teams for NE based CAPF namely Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB and ITBP participated in the contest. Gp Capt R K Yadav, Principal, Sainik School Punglwa; Prof Rupanka Bhuyan, Registrar, ICFAI University, Dimapur; Dr Chandra Shekhar Chaubey, Regional Director, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Dimapur; and Sebastian Zumvu, Journalist and Former Media Advisor to Government of Nagaland were the jury members of the event.
