Spreads message of Swachch Bharat and empowering girl child
Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): The Dimapur Bongs paid homage to the 19 Indian soldiers who were martyred at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir last month recently, by lighting 19 lamps in their memory. Beginning with the Babulal Kachari Puja Committee, the homage was led by DMC Administrator, Atokhe Aye.
A press release stated that the Durga Puja festival began with pomp and gaiety in Dimapur with Mahasaptami on October 8. Taking the opportunity of the celebrations, the Dimapur Bongs, an affiliate organization of Dimapur Bengali Samaj also visited different puja pandals carrying the message of Swachch Bharat; Clean Dimapur, Green Dimapur and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
Aye visited several puja pandals with the members of Dimapur Bongs, who led the DMC Administrator in more than 100 motorcycles, extended puja greetings at all places and urged the people to keep the spirit of peace and harmony as they celebrate this festival. He also urged the people of the society to introspect and retrospect whether they are contributing anything to the society as they celebrate the festival of victory of good over evil.
Aye also mentioned about the importance of sanitation and waste management and informed them about the segregation of waste, an initiative take up by the Dimapur Municipal Council through the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan.
At various puja pandals where he visited, he highlighted about the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and informed that around 20 hoardings have been put in as many as puja pandals to create awareness about waste management.
Engineer Badal Bhadra of the Dimapur Municipal Council demonstrated the different kinds of wastes, which emanates from every household and how such waste should be dealt with by the people. He termed the waste as dry waste, wet waste, and medicinal waste and electrical and electronics wastes which needs to kept separately in different waste bins.
President of Dimapur Bengali Samaj, KK Paul, who accompanied the DMC administrator in all the puja pandals he visited, extended Durga Puja greetings and urged the people from Bengali community to stay united and work for the betterment of Dimapur town.
Paul also conveyed the message of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and what initiative has been taken by the DMC in this regard.
