Warns of IPC charges, disciplinary proceedings against offenders
Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): Acting on orders issued by the Government of Nagaland, the Dimapur District Administration carried out an inspection of various check gates across Dimapur on February 25 directing the immediate closure of all unauthorized gates operating in the district.
The inspection team was led by SDO (C), Dimapur, Wiridin, NCS, accompanied by ADCP, Kelem Toshi Jamir, Police and Dobashi officials, stated a DIPR report.
The move comes in response to continued reports of alleged illegal collection of money from vehicles by certain organizations, groups, government agencies and private individuals despite several directives issued in the past.
During the inspection, the team visited multiple locations including Dillai Gate; Duncan check gate; Thahekhu Gate; FCI Godown at Kevijau Colony; New Field Check Gate; Old Khatkati Road Check Gate at Burma Camp were all closed down during the inspection.
However, the check gates at Benjak Phom Colony (Walford Check Gate) and the East Dimapur Town Council Check Gate near Zion Hospital Junction were still open.
The authorities stated that specific instructions will be issued for the dismantling and complete removal of these structures. All check gates set up by departments, municipal bodies and town councils were ordered to strictly comply with the directive.
The administration stated that it will ensure no unauthorized check gate remains operational in violation of the order. Regular surprise inspections will be conducted with the support of the respective SP/DCP to enforce compliance.
Authorities warned that if any unauthorized check gate is found functioning, including those operated by private groups or individuals, those responsible will face prosecution under Sections 188 and 384 of the IPC. “Disciplinary proceedings will also be initiated against concerned officials wherever necessary,” it added.
