Dimapur district departmental sports week underway

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): The 4th Dimapur district Inter Departmental Sports meet 2018 got underway today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Government Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan.  

Deputy Speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Zhaleo Rio, who graced the meet as the special guest, congratulated the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, and the Sports Council Dimapur for organising the 4th edition of sports meet in a very grand manner and advised them to channelise the potentials and talents of the Government employees for physical fitness and mental preparedness.  

Reminding that a healthy body gives a healthy mind, Zhaleo observed that if the present trend continues, employees starting from DC under Dimapur district would have a sense of competitiveness and the physic of all the employees would outshine employees of other district. On the occasion, the special guest also urged upon all the employees to re-dedicate themselves for the service of the people.  

Maintaining that Dimapur was a unique district known as the gateway, the commercial hub and also Mini Nagaland; Zhaleo encouraged one and all to march forward and to take the lead even in the sports sector. He appeal to the DC and sports council Dimapur to continue the trend of organising the annual inter departmental sports week and was optimistic that it would grow from strength to strength. The special guest extended his wishes to all the participants and declared the sports week open.  

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS) expressed gratitude to the special invited, NGOs, players from different departments and well wishers for their presence and for making the occasion more colourful.  

Presidents of Dimapur district Badminton Association and Dimapur district table tennis association also delivered short speeches. Vituonuo Solo enthralled the event with a special rendition. Pastor, Zeme Baptist church Dimapur invoked God's blessings.  

During the 3 days sports meet, various sports disciplines including Football, Carom, Badminton, table tennis, tug of war and field and track events would be held.
