Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The District Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign workshop was held on July 2 at CMO’s Conference Hall. During the inaugural function, Dr. Rebecca, DPO, RCH-UIP oriented the trainees on the upcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) Campaign in Nagaland. She informed that the MR Campaign will be launched on October 3 for the entire state of Nagaland. During the Campaign, children up to 15 years will be vaccinated.
The campaign aims to rapidly build up immunity for both measles and rubella diseases in the community so as to prevent the disease, therefore, all the children should receive MR vaccine during the campaign. Regardless of the previous immunization status of measles or rubella vaccine or whether the children have got measles or rubella, the children aged between nine months to 15 years are eligible for MR vaccination during the campaign. The dose given during the mass campaign is a supplementary dose. The MR Vaccine used in the campaign is a safe and an effective vaccine for elimination of measles and control of rubella.
Resource persons for the workshop were, Dr. Abhishek Singh, RRT WHO, Dr. Rebecca, DPO, UIP/RCH, Dr. Narola, MO Chumukedima, and Imli, Project Officer, UNDP. The trainees included Block Medical Officers, SHP MO and Staff, Block Program Managers, ASHA Co-ordinators of all the blocks and DPMU staff.
