Dimapur: Don Bosco HSS emerge overall champions of ANPSA sports meet

Dimapur, November 13 (MExN): The two-day All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Dimapur Sports Meet cum basketball and volleyball tournament concluded with a befitting closing ceremony, held at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Sports Complex, Dimapur on November 11. 

The sports meet had kicked off on November 10 with Kevithuto Sophie, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, gracing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest.

Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur with a total medal tally point of 195 bagged the overall champion trophy of the sports meet, stated a press release from ANPSA. In second place came, Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur with a total medal tally point of 165 followed by Lorna’s Higher Secondary School in third position with a total medal tally point of 90.

The two day event saw the participating schools competing in various events which included Volleyball, Basketball, March Past, 100 Metres Race, 200 Metres Race, 4x100 Metres Relay Race and Tug-of-War.

Other highlights included the flag down and submission of the ANPSA flag to Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, President, ANPSA Dimapur by Convenor of the sports meet, Dr R Francis, followed by the declaration of the sports meet closed by the president.

In march past, Livingstone Foundation International secured the first position while Lorna’s School and St. Mary’s Hr Sec School, Padumpukhri came in the second and third places respectively. The Best Discipline Award went to Harvest Mission School.

Vollyball, basketball, 100, 200 meters race, 4x100 relay and tug of war winners

In volleyball senior boys’ category the first prize was clinched by Honili Memorial Hr Sec School while the second and third positions were bagged by Pranab Vidyapith Hr Sec School and MGM Hr Sec School respectively. In the junior boys’ category, Lorna’s Hr Sec School won the first prize while MGM Hr Sec School and Harvest Mission School secured the second and third positions. The team from Pranab Vidyapith won the first prize in volleyball senior girls’ category while second and third went to St Stephen’s Hr Sec School and Don Bosco School respectively. In the junior category, Lorna’s School came in first while MGM and Harvest Mission schools took the second and third positions. 

The team from Don Bosco School came out as the winners of the basketball senior boys’ category, while St Mary’s school Padumpukhri and Livingstone Foundation International bagged the second and third prizes. Under senior girls category, Don Bosco won the first prize while Livingstone Foundation and St Mary’s, Padumpukhri came in the second and third places. In the junior boys category, Don Bosco again won the first prize while St Mary’s school, Padumpukhri and MGM school came in the second and third places. In junior girls category also, Don Bosco took home the first position while St Mary’s school won the second position.

For the 4x100 relay race senior boys, first position was bagged by Livingstone, second by Don Bosco and third by Lorna’s school while in the senior girls, first position went to St Stephen’s school, second to Don Bosco and third to Livingstone Foundation. In junior boys, Don Bosco secured first followed by St Thomas Hr Sec School. In junior girls, first went to Don Bosco while second and third positions went to Livingstone Foundation and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sewak respectively.

For the tug-of War boys’ category, the team from Don Bosco stole the show by winning the first prize while MGM school, Padumpukhri bagged the second and Livingstone Foundation came in third place. The girls team from St Mary’s bagged the first prize while teams from St Mary’s and Livingstone Foundation came in second and third positions.

It was also mentioned that Sunepjungla Longkumer was adjudged as the best girl athlete of the sports meet while the best boy athlete award was claimed by Tonoto R Zhimomi  both from Livingstone school.
