Dimapur DTF on COVID-19 reconstituted

Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): A meeting was held on March 7 in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, where the District Task Force for preparedness for COVID 19 in Dimapur was reconstituted with co-opted members.


A press statement from the DC said that 3 beds at Dimapur District Hospital have been set up as isolation wards. Military Hospitals have also been visited and some ICUs and isolation wards have been identified. 40 beds were identified at the District Welfare Office at Chümoukedima, it added.


The DC informed that a Rapid Response Team has been activated and passengers at Airports are being screened with a thermal scanner on arrival. An isolation room has also been identified at the Airport. In railway stations, flexi banners have been put up and announcements will be made to sensitize the people on the Do's and Don’ts. Railways will set up banners displaying content about COVID- 19 and make announcements for self declaration if a passenger has recently visited any of the affected countries.


The DEO will write to all the schools in the district to prepare students and teachers. Schools and Colleges will display IEC materials and Do's and Don'ts. A task force has been set up by the Police Department but Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has still not been made available. Electronic Display used for dissemination of information will be set up at Plaza Point, Railway and Airport. It was decided that Dimapur Government College will be the Nodal College for awareness and preparedness. The DMC will hold awareness programme in co-ordination with colony chairmen and business organizations. Business establishments selling face masks and hand sanitizers at high prices will be checked and defaulters will be booked, it said.


Additionaly, colony chairmen/GBs will collaborate with churches to spread awareness. IEC materials will be distributed at border check gates to target/cover passengers entering Dimapur by road.
