DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 18 (MExN): The Dimapur district Excise Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) duty party seized 45 cases of assorted IMFL from a place at Fellowship colony here on February 15. One person identified as John (27) was arrested in this connection and accordingly penalized under the NLTP Act 1989, a press release issued by T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition informed.
In another incident on February 17, the Dimapur district Excise personnel at Newfield check gate, Dimapur seized 50 cases of can beer (500 ml) from the rear deck of a Bolero bearing registration number NL06/0193 at 6:40 am. In this connection, one Vika Yeptho (25) was arrested and booked, said another press release from T Arilong Longkumer.
The release said, “...Excise check posts surveillance and vigilance have been enhanced in anticipation of liquor inflow from across the border designed to lure and hold sway over the voters and often used as precursor for initiating violence.”
