Dimapur: Fish farmers trained in ornamental farming culture and aquarium fabrication

Officials and participants during the residential training programme on ornamental fish farming and aquarium fabrication conducted from February 17 to 19 at the Fishery Biologist Office, Dimapur.

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): The three-day residential training programme on ornamental fish farming and aquarium fabrication, organised by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB–NERC, Guwahati) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Government of Nagaland, was conducted from February 17 to 19 at the Fishery Biologist Office, Dimapur.

A press release received here stated that the District Fisheries Officer, Dimapur, Imtisunep, welcomed the participants and encouraged fish farmers to take up ornamental fish culture and conserve indigenous fish species. Dr Dorothy, MS Executive (T), NFDB–NERC, Guwahati, delivered an overview of ornamental fisheries, Government schemes and assistance such as and entrepreneurship models.

Resource persons for the programme included Dr Nchumbeni Humtsoe, Sub Divisional Fishery Officer Dimapur; Theja O Rulu, Asst Fishery Inspector and Yaranjang, Imchens Aquatic.

Altogether, 25 ST fish farmers and entrepreneurs attended the training. The programme concluded with certificates awarded to all participants.
