A1 Powerplay and Titan FC register wins

The first edition of Dimapur Football League organized by Naga United Football Club under the aegis of Dimapur District Football Association kicked off at DDSC Stadium on September 14.
Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer attended the opening as the special invitee.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Longkumer said it was time for Nagas to change their ways of thinking and criticism in terms of community, territory and party lines.
“We have to stand tall in spite of all criticisms and build our future together to achieve something for ourselves and the society.”
“Do we live only for ourselves or choose to live for others also?” he queried, further adding that every individual should strive to do their bit to be tolerant and contribute towards the making of a tolerant society.
The H&TE also pointed out that Nagas were only “good” at many things but not the “best” adding, “it is time to start thinking about the best.”
He encouraged the players to engage in true sportsmanship spirit and aim beyond merely representing their clubs but also look forward to representing their state and the country.
Further urging the footballers to play with a vision, he expressed the hope that best footballers could be churned out of the DFL and that one day people would come to Nagaland to choose players to represent various clubs and to event represent the country.
DFL Convenor, Shiyeto Wotsa, in his welcome address informed that eight clubs were competing this season.
DDFA Vice President, Tsenthungo Lotha and Naga United FC, Advisor, Kughato S. Aye also spoke during the programme.
Later, the special invitee kicked off the league.
On the first two matches of the inaugural day, A1 Powerplay and Titan FC registered wins. In the first match, A1 Powerplay beat Chanan FC 4-3 while the second match between Titan FC and Ekhyo FC ended with 1-0.
Apart from the first day, the organizers also informed that entry will be free on September 15.
