Dimapur Government College bid farewell to one of its longest serving and most beloved figures, Bendangsangba Ao, Associate Professor, HOD, Department of Commerce on April 3.
Known for his cheerfulness and sense of humour, he was a teacher, mentor and guide to students and colleagues alike, stated a press release issued by the college.
Bendang joined DGC in June, 1987, and in his 30 years association with the institution, the college discovered in him a closet-engineer/inventor/landscape-designer who never hesitated to utilize his multiple skills and talents or time and energy for the benefit of the college.
In his retirement from active service, the college also loses an ardent historian who could trace in detail the saga of DGC’s growth from its humble beginnings, through its troubled times when it was fighting for its survival to the dignified position of today.
In parting, Bendang donated generously to several college associations and committees of which he was a founding member. He also pledged his continued participation in many of the ongoing developmental projects in the college.
