Dimapur: ILP verification for categories 1 and 2 begins

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, has notified that the identification and enumeration of individuals belonging to Category I and Category II will commence with immediate effect. This exercise is being carried out in pursuance of the Home Department (Political Branch) Notification No. CON-3/PAP/65/10, dated September 20, 2024. According to the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, forms for the identification process will be issued from the ILP Administrative Cell at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Dimapur.

Category I refers to individuals or families who settled in Dimapur before December 1, 1963, the date on which Nagaland attained statehood. Category II includes those who settled in Dimapur between December 2, 1963 and November 21, 1979, before the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime was officially implemented in the district.

Residents falling under Category I and II are exempt from the requirement of obtaining an ILP to reside in Dimapur. Instead, they are eligible for government-recognised documentation such as the Smart Card, Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC), and Domicile Certificate, depending on their classification.
