Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): Delegates of Marwari Samaj, Dimapur led by its President, Om Prakash Sethi felicitated the Padma Bhushan from Nagaland, Dr SC Jamir at his residence in Chümoukedima on February 21 last.
The Marwari Samaj in a press release stated that appreciating the Marwari Samaj for being the first community to felicitate him after having been conferred Padma Bhushan by the Government of India recently, Dr Jamir reminisced the days when pioneers like Harisankar Singhania, Late Kishan Lal Sethi, Late Mangilal Jain, Late Panna Lal Sethi, Late Sohan Lal Sethi and others contributed immensely towards building Dimapur as a thriving township. He also appreciated Jain community for the hospital, college and schools they have built for the welfare of the public. Sharing about his views on minority welfare, Dr Jamir reminded that he always maintained a seat in the legislature for the minorities during his rule.
Dr Jamir opined that the Act East Policy of GoI would open the floodgates for the development in Nagaland. Influx of foreigners would be very high at that time which needs to be monitored for better progress and protection of the indigenous inhabitants.
Appreciating the liberal views of Dr Jamir, Sethi expressed gratitude on Marwari community’s behalf and wished him a long life and the best of the place in the Indian history.
