Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): Dimapur Okotsoe Ekhung (DOE) celebrated golden jubilee celebration at Bethesda Higher Secondary School (BHSS) compound, Walford Dimapur on December 4 with Advisor of Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan as guest of honour.
Yanthan in the jubilee greetings asked them to mark the celebration by forgiving one another and to look forward for better tomorrow in unity. He said that God has blessed the committee throughout and encouraged them to continue to uphold the same unity and bond of relationship amongst themselves.
Yanthan stressed on the role played by agricultural sector in the process of economic development of a country. He pointed out that agricultural sector has already made significant contribution to the economic prosperity of advanced countries, while also emphasizing its vital role in the economic development of less developed countries. Agriculture will not only increase the economy but also provide employment opportunity, he said.
Greeting speeches were delivered by Wokha Okotsoe Ekhung chairman and Kohima Okotsoe Ekhung chairman, Lotha Hoho Dimapur chairman and Okotso Village Council chairman. Highlights of the programme included release of jubilee souvenir and felicitation, special song presented by jubilee choir and Liyani Merry. The programme was chaired by planning and organising committee and convenor TL Merry, invocation prayer by AGEI superintendent general Reverend Moses Murry and welcome address was delivered by DOE chairman Thungchibemo Shitiri. Benediction prayer was pronounced by Rev JT Lotha.
