Dimapur Police arrest 27 persons under NLTP Act

Dimapur, July 22 (MExN): The Dimapur Police in the last fortnight have registered 25 cases under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act and arrested 27 persons in connection to the cases, according to PRO, Dimapur Police. Meanwhile, around 19,000 bottles/1600 cases of assorted illegal liquors worth several lakhs of rupees in the market were seized from various establishments, joints, and while being illegally transported.  

A press release from PRO, Dimapur Police informed that following the seizure of 1195 cases of illegal liquor consignment on July 19 by the East Police Station, the personnel of Diphupar Police station on July 20 seized another consignment of 140 cases. The consignment was being transported in one Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration NL-06 2641 and was intercepted after hot pursuit. One person identified as Khetoka Assumi was arrested in connection to the seizure.  

The Women Cell also seized around 22 cases of assorted liquors after a place was raided at Zeliangrong colony, Dhobinala on July 21. One person was arrested in the raid.

In another incident on July 20, the Anti Extortion Team under Zone-I of the Dimapur Police arrested two persons from Blue Hill area and seized from their possession one .22 pistol. They were identified as Omega Awomi and Habibur Rahman, both hailing from Burma Camp, Dimapur. Further investigation is under progress at the East Police Station, informed the PRO. Meanwhile, on July 20, the Anti Extortion Team (AET) under Zone-II of the Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Tokiho Chishi for collecting “illegal tax” from the fish vendors at New Market area. A case is under investigation at the East Police Station in this regard, it was informed.
