Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Dimapur police has arrested 5 people over the past week and has charged them under various crimes, a press note Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO informed.
According to the PRO, the first arrest made by May 28 when the personnels of East PS of the Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Mughalu Ayemi Ayemi while he was found collecting illegal vehicle tax near Hazi Park area.
He was collecting tax in the name of the Dimapur Auto Owners Syndicate, it said adding that cash and other incriminating documents in the form of coupons were seized from his possession.
The second arrest was made on June 2, when the Anti-Extortion Team under Zone-II of the Dimapur Police arrested three extortionist while they were in the area trying to collect illegal taxes.
The three arrested persons are members of the NNC(NA) and were identified as ‘SS’ Secretary UT-1 Tokaho Chopy S/o Kakheto Chopy; ‘SS’ Lieut Abel Swansea S/o Salmon and; ‘SS’ Lieut Simon Aye S/o Yehovi Aye, the Police said.
One 7.65 pistol with 7 live rounds, one .22 pistol with 2 live rounds, demand slip coupons and a vehicle has been seized from the arrested persons, it added.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police personnel manning ISBT detected and seized 11,000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxivon from the possession of Pukhalu Assumi.
Cases registered under relevant sections and the investigations are on, the police further informed.
