Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): Dimapur Police arrested five people for thefts and extortion from different locations on July 4 and 5.
One person identified as Vinoka was arrested on July 4 for pick pocketing passenger’s purse from Dimapur Railway Station platform, informed a press release from PRO, Dimapur Police. In this connection, a case has been registered at GRPS Dimapur.
On July 5, Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone-II, Dimapur arrested two from Khermahal area for extorting money from auto drivers. According to the press release, following articles were seized from their possession – Rs. 710 in cash, three numbers of work permit slips of NSCN (IM), and yearly tax slips of NNC/NPGN (N/A). The arrested persons have been identified as Lokivi Achumi (32), Major of NNC/NPGN (N/A) and Kito Chishi (20), Sergeant of NSCN (IM). A case has been registered at West Police Station, Dimapur in this regard.
On the same day around 1:50 am, Dimapur Police apprehended two motorcycle lifters from Kuhoxu village junction and recovered one motorcycle (Gixxer, black color 200CC bearing registration number NL07-M-6436) from their possession. The accused have been identified as Puloto Achumi (21) and Kakiye Achumi (20). On preliminary enquiry, it was ascertained that the motorcycle was stolen from Nikos Hospital, Dimapur on July 2, the release stated. In this connection, a case has been registered at West Police Station, Dimapur.
Dead body recovered
On July 5 about 6:30 am, a body of one non-Naga man aged around 40 years was recovered near 254/9-8 on Dimapur-Rangapahar railway track. The Dimapur Police PRO said the victim is suspected to have been run over by a moving train. After conducting all legal formalities, the dead body was shifted to District Hospital for post-mortem examination and identification, the release added. In this connection, a (UD) case has been registered at GRPS Dimapur.
