Dimapur Police arrest three for extortion

DIMAPUR, MARCH 13 (MExN): Dimapur Police has arrested three individuals on different occasion for allegedly extorting money from businesses while taking the name of different Naga political groups. 

A press release issued by the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur informed that on March 8 at around 5:20 PM, Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Katoshe Awomi ‘SS’ Tatar of NSCN (Nikki) group and a resident of Padampukhuri Village from Green Door resort at Sovima for issuing summon letters to agencies within Dimapur town. 

On March 10, one person identified as Santosh Shah (aged 39 yrs), a resident of  Grace Colony, Kuda-C  Khel Village from Railway market while extorting money from vegetables, fish and meat vendors, on behalf of one Deputy Kilonser of NSCN (IM) faction. 

On March 11 at about 4:30 PM, Dimapur Police arrested one person namely Vihoshe Murru (36 yrs), a ‘SS’ Major NPGN /NNC (Non accord), presently residing at Burma Camp while extorting money at Tata Garage, Burma Camp. Seventeen receipts of yearly normal tax of Thekedar of NPGN/NNC (Non accord) were seized from his possession, the Police stated. 

Dimapur Police has informed that cases have been registered under relevant section of the law and investigation is ongoing.
