Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): Dimapur Police apprehended two persons identified as Akaho Aye and Ghunaka Achumi for allegedly stealing a goat at Viola colony, Dimapur on April 20.
As per a press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police (Crime)/PRO, Dimapur, the accused during the course of investigation revealed they had stolen a motor bike and sold it in Niuland.
Accordingly, Dimapur Police party along with the accused proceeded to Niuland and recovered a bike with registration number NL07E7180 from one Tokheho, it said. In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is going on, the release added.
In another incident, Dimapur Police arrested one person for kidnapping and looting. The ADCP/PRO press release informed that on April 17, one driver, Rafique Islam, was kidnapped along with his Tata Mobile by four unknown people on the pretext of hiring his vehicle.
The vehicle was taken to Khushiabill (Miya Bazaar) and the driver’s belongings (cash Rs. 6000, two mobile handsets) were looted, it alleged, adding the driver was “beaten mercilessly”, while Rs. 10,00,000 was demanded as ransom for his release.
“Fortunately, the driver managed to escape and reported the matter,” the police said. Accordingly, Dimapur Police swung into action and arrested Babul, one of the accused persons. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation on, it said.
