Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur on Saturday, issued a press release with updates on the activities of the Dimapur Police force.
On February 26, Dimapur police arrested Yansamongo Ngullie from Newfield check-gate area, Dimapur, for possession of illegal arms and ammunitions. One .32 pistol (country made), one magazine, three live ammunitions and one mobile handset was recovered from his possession and a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur, the release stated.
Dimapur Police apprehended two persons from Railway gate market area for possession of counterfeit Indian currency notes on February 29 and recovered Rs 6500 in counterfeited currency notes of Rs 500 denominations. A case has been registered against the two who were identified as Sumit Rava and John Porja. In another incident on the same day, Dimapur Police personnel conducting frisking/checking duty at Ghorapatti area arrested Loveson Tao Poumai of Opinam village under Senapati district and Kevisato of Khuzama village for possession of illegal arms and ammunition. One 9MM pistol (country made), one magazine, four mobile handsets and one car key were recovered from their possession and a case has been registered in this connection, the release stated.
In another case of possession of illegal arms and ammunition, Dimapur Police on March 2 apprehended Imtisungkum Pongen and Aotemsu Lemtur from Gorappati area, Dimapur. The following items were recovered/seized from their possession- One .32 pistol (country made), one magazine, seven numbers of live ammunition and two mobile handsets were recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at West Police Station, Dimapur.
On March 3, Dimapur Police arrested Promud Mech, SS Rajapiu of NSCN(IM) for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN(IM) from sand laden trucks at Sangtamtilla area, Dimapur. Cash amounting to Rs 2250 was recovered from his possession and a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station Dimapur, the release said.
Dimapur Police also arrested Anovi Koppo of NSCN(K) from New Market area, Dimapur for extorting money from vegetable vendors on March 4. A cash amount of Rs730 was recovered from his possession and a case has been registered at West Police Station Dimapur.
The release also stated that Dimapur Police arrested Kewezeto Kromi of Lasumi village on March 5 Dimapur for impersonating a police personnel and extorting money from the business community in Khermahal area, Dimapur, on the pretext of checking for expired goods. In this connection one note book and one mobile handset were recovered/seized from his possession and a case has been registered at West Police station, Dimapur.
