Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): Dimapur police has arrested four persons in connection with a robbery incident that took place at Thahekhu village in Dimapur on October 15.

A press release from the Addl Dy Commissioner of Police/ PRO Dimapur on October 21, informed that the main accused worked as a cash executive of a cash pick-up and delivery agency. In connivance with his associates, the accused concocted a fictitious story to the police claiming that he was robbed of a sum of Rs 20 lakh by miscreants on a motorcycle, it said.

The ADCP/PRO told The Morung Express that “The (robbery) incident was actually enacted outside the Amazon office in Thahekhu where his friends arrived on a bike, assaulted him and snatched the cash bag from his vehicle.”

However, owing to the inconsistent statements of the employee of the agency with further corroboration of technical data analysis by the police investigation team, the employee finally confessed that the story was fabricated, the PRO informed.

As per the PRO, the team first arrested Khekaho Yeptho (37) which eventually led to the arrest of Hokito Achumi (31) on October 19 while the other two, Aghato Yeptho (34) and Anato Achumi (37) were arrested on October 20.

Consequently, the cash amount of Rs 15,40,000 was recovered from three different locations within the town area.

A case has been registered at the Sub-Urban Police Station and investigation is on, the PRO stated.
