Dimapur police arrests for theft, illegal possession of arms

Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): The Dimapur Police made a string of arrests and recovered stolen two-wheelers in separate incidents July 3 and 6. 

According to a press release from the Addl Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur, on July 3, two persons identified as Ikusa Aye (20) and Puloka Aye (30) were arrested on criminal charges of theft, after their car met with an accident during an escape attempt. “On further enquiry, it came to light that the arrested individuals on multiple occasions in Diphupar, Chümoukedima and Kuda village had used the same modus operandi, wherein on the pretext of buying rice from a shop, they would first load their car with rice bags with the help of the unsuspecting shopkeeper, after which at an opportune moment, they would flee with the rice laden vehicle,” the release stated.

Cases have been registered in Diphupar Police Station and East Police Station Dimapur respectively, it added.

On July 6, Dimapur Police arrested one Torin Tikhir (25) for illegal possession of a one .22 caliber pistol with three live rounds from Padumpukhuri area. “During the initial enquiry, the arrested individual revealed that he had borrowed the small arm from one person in order to impress his female friend,” the press release stated. A case has been registered at East Police Station Dimapur in this regard.

On the same day, one bike and one scooty that were stolen from Dimapur, was recovered by the investigation team of Sub-Urban PS from Nagaon in Assam, with the assistance of Nagaon Police, Assam. The release stated that a case has been registered at SBN PS Dimapur.
