Dimapur, April 4 (MExN): Dimapur Police have arrested several persons on different charges and also recovered stolen vehicles in the last fortnight.
On April 2, the Dimapur Police arrested one Santosh Kumar after the vehicle he was driving was intercepted with 25 cases of illegal liquor, informed a press release from ADCP / PRO, Dimapur Police. A case in this connection has been registered in the West Police Station under the NLTP Act. In related cases, the Dimapur Police have registered 4 cases in the last fortnight, arrested 6 persons and seized over 1200 bottles of illegal IMFL, the release added.
In a joint operation of the Assam Police and Dimapur Police on April 1, one Mahindra Bolero pick up which was reported stolen in Guwahati, Assam on March 30 was recovered from Ura Colony, Dimapur. Arrests of involved persons are still underway, according to the ADCP/PRO.
Meanwhile, on March 31, the Anti Extortion Team (AET) of Dimapur Police arrested one person on charges of extortion after reports were received that the latter was collecting illegal taxes from vehicles and establishments at Purana Bazaar area, Dimapur, the release said. The arrested person has been identified as Khekivi Ayemi, resident of Purana Bazaar. “Cash and incriminating documents in the form of demand slips of the NNC/GDRN (NA) were seized from his possession,” it was informed.
In another incident on March 30, one Maruti Alto belonging to a person lodged at Galaxy Hotel, Dimapur was stolen by two staffs working in the same lodge. A team of Dimapur Police was able to recover the stolen vehicle from Dokmokha, Assam and returned with the same, the press release stated.
