Dimapur Police update on crimes

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur today reported of several arrests which happened in the last fortnight.  

On September 19 around 8:30 am, two persons were apprehended by the youths of Ura village for allegedly entering the village with an intention to steal cattle, according to a press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO. A vehicle (Tata Mobile - AS01EC3137) along with the two miscreants was handed over to the SBN PS and a written FIR from Kelengulie Yaotsu, Village Council Chairman, Ura village was also received on September 20 against the two, informed the release. The two accused have been identified as Rabul Islam (25) and Maheruddin (40). A case has been registered for further investigation.  

In connection with West PS C/No. 122/17 u/s 380/447/448/457/120B IPC, one Kipunwi Domta (31) was arrested along with the stolen vehicle Swift Desire B/R. No. AS01BF3222 by Kangpokpi PS personnel, Manipur and handed over to the West PS. The vehicle was handed over to the rightful owner.  

Further, on September 30, Dimapur Police Mobile- 98 party while performing duty at DMC Tool Tax area, Burma Camp apprehended two persons who were found in illegal possession of an arm and ammunition – one 7.65 mm Pistol along with Magazine loaded with 5 live rounds, the PRO said. A case has been registered at East PS against the two accused, Biswajit Mech (34) and Imugha Yeptho, and further investigation is on.  

The Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS), Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Wilson Rochill on September 30 in connection with a written FIR at East PS by one Ningsagwaba regarding bike snatching case.  

Meanwhile, one person identified as Tovika Ayemi was apprehended by Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone-1 on September 20 around 3:00 pm for allegedly collecting taxes from New Market area, the PRO further said. Several incriminating documents/demand slips in the name of NNC (NA)/ NSCN (R)/ FGN were seized from his possession, the release stated, adding a case has been registered and investigation is on.  

In a separate incident, the AET Zone-1 recovered 100 kg of suspected ganja from Tenyiphe-1 village, Dimapur area from a vehicle (Gypsy - NL10-9964) on October 2 around 2:30 am. Two persons - Mosa Movi (26) and Tsamulie Yim - who were transporting the same were arrested. Accordingly, a case has been registered Vide CMD PS for further investigation, the release added.
