Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): District level meeting on Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) was held at Chief Medical Officer’s conference hall, Dimapur on June 8.
Dr. Rebecca, DPO, UIP-RCH as resource person reoriented the members on the upcoming Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight scheduled from June 12 to 24, informed a press release. The main objective of the campaign, she stated, is to attain “zero” child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea. The main target beneficiaries will be children below 5 years of age.
Dr. Rebecca highlighted the week-by-week activities to be carried out during the fortnight to control diarrhoea. During the IDCF, the focus will be to improve the availability and use of ORS and Zinc, to strengthen facility level to manage cases of dehydration, and to enhance advocacy and communication on prevention and control of diarrhoea through IEC campaign, it was informed.
ORS packets will be distributed to all families with children under 5 years of age and key messages for awareness will be delivered to the families.
The meeting was attended by block representatives comprising of Medical Officers, Block Program Manager and Block ASHA Co-ordinators.
