Dimapur Rengma Students' Union launches t-shirt project

Dimapur, November 23 (MExN): Dimapur Rengma Students' Union (DRSU) launched a t-shirt project at its office on November 21.

According to DRSU, profits from this t-Shirt project will go for publishing a book on weaving which would record the process of Rengma traditional cloth making. “The t-shirts with a touch of traditional Rengma Naga attire, along with a bookmark containing the meaning and use of the attire, aims to perpetuate our heritage,” stated a press release from the DRSU.

The person behind the project is Khwenhile Keppen. She recently completed her Masters in Literature from Sharda University, won some awards for Photography at state level (ANCSU) in 2017 and also International level cultural dance competition held at Sharda University.

Driven by the thought “modern problem, modern solution”, Keppen aims to educate her peers and the younger Rengma generation about the culture with innovative ideas.

The Union has requested the Naga community to step forward, collectively support and encourage the young innovative and talented minds.
