Dimapur, November 25 (DIPR): Administrative officers and staff of Dimapur Deputy Commissioner's office, other officers of the district, NGOs, civil societies and well wishers on November 24 bade farewell to Kesonyu Yhome (IAS), the outgoing DC of Dimapur, who served the district for almost three years.
Speaking at the farewell event, Yhome termed his stay in Dimapur as very challenging as well as exciting. “It is because of these challenges the stay has been exciting,” he expressed. Yhome felt that his stay in Dimapur has made his learning curves go higher professionally.
The IAS officer narrated he was new to the district in 2015 when he was posted as the DC and has learnt a lot of things since then. According to him, 2016 was largely peaceful except some border issues. He dubbed the year 2017 as the most challenging in connection with ULB elections, and the disaster after disasters that struck the district since February 2017 due to extended monsoons, resulting in floods, washing away of roads and bridges, burning of transformers etc.
“These challenges have brought us together and that is the beauty of working as a team,” he maintained, while emphasizing on the need and importance of team spirit. He reminded the gathering that every challenge whether big or small is surmountable as long as they function as a unit.
Thanking the HoDs of every department, Yhome observed that Dimapur district has the finest officers, who have extended all support and cooperation during his tenure as the DC. He further thanked and appreciated the DBs, civil societies, organizations, NGOs, his personal staffs, administrative officers and staffs of the DC office, and the public of Dimapur for their unflinching cooperation both in good and bad times.
Yhome also thanked God for helping him and the administration sail through successfully in different circumstances and also prayed to keep the new DC and Dimapur safe.
While formally welcoming the new DC, he appealed to one and all to render all help and support to him, as was extended to him.
The new DC of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel lauded the outgoing DC for handling various issues successfully though Dimapur being a sensitive district. Yhome, he said, was an inspiration to many. While conveying his best wishes to the outgoing DC, Sushil Kumar sought the support and cooperation of the officers and the people for successful functioning of the district.
