Dimapur: Shots fired at bike showroom

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 20 (MExN): Unidentified miscreants today opened indiscriminate fire at a bike showroom in Dimapur at around 5:00 pm.  

Five bullets were continuously fired in less than a minute at the front glass view of the Riven Honda bike showroom at Riverbelt, Circular road, opposite IMC hall Dimapur. The barrage of bullets left the front door of the showroom broken.  

The unidentified miscreants were reportedly on a moving bike when they fired the shots. Eye witnesses around the vicinity of the showroom informed that that three persons were on the bike.

  At the time of the incident, five employees were inside the showroom. However, no casualties have been reported.  

While the identity of the miscreants could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report, the PRO Dimapur Police who was at the site stated that a case will be registered for further investigation.  

PAC condemns 

The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) meanwhile condemned the incident and appealed to security personnel to be more vigilant. A press note from the PAC Convener, Vekhosayi Nyekha asked the public to “respond immediately in case any incidence occurs in their vicinity to the police with proper information.”  

It further termed reports of Naga political groups demanding money from private buildings and Church constructions as “demeaning to the Naga cause.” It meanwhile convened an emergency meeting on November 21 at the NCD office at 3:00pm, and solicited the attendance of all PAC members, tribal hoho presidents, DUCCF, NWHD, GBs Union, BAN, and DCCI.
