DIMAPUR, MARCH 20 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued an order directing street vendors operating without valid permits at New Market and Hazi Park to apply for necessary permits within seven days. The order comes after concerns were raised about unregulated vending activities, encroachments, and public inconvenience in these areas. Under the Nagaland Municipal Act of 2023, all street vendors are required to obtain a valid permit from the DMC to conduct business in designated vending locations. The DMC has now mandated that vendors operating without permits report to the Municipal Council office and apply for their permits by March 27.
Failure to comply with the order will result in the immediate removal of vendors from their current vending locations. The directive is intended to address public safety and ensure that vending activities are conducted in an organized and regulated manner, the order issued by Thungchanbemo Tungoe, Chief Executive Officer, Dimapur Municipal Council stated.
