Dimapur Sumi Council appeals for free and fair ULBs polls

Dimapur, May 12 (MExN): The Dimapur Sumi Council (DSC) issued an appeal today to the citizens of Dimapur, urging them to ensure free and fair urban local bodies (ULBs) elections.

The DSC expects citizens to transcend narrow divisions such as tribalism, clanism, and groupism, and to elect deserving individuals for the advancement and upliftment of society, the Council stated in a press release.

Additionally, it earnestly urged all candidates to contest the elections through legitimate means, refraining from any form of foul play or violence that could lead to unwarranted situations.

The DSC also emphasised that every citizen should strive to create a peaceful polling environment in their respective areas, setting a positive example. Elections to three Municipal Councils and 36 Town Councils in Nagaland are scheduled on June 26.
