Dimapur to intensify awareness campaigns on COVID-19

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS convened a meeting of Dimapur DTF members on June 15 and deliberated on issues pertaining to COVID-19.


Accepting that Corona virus would stay with the people for a long time, the meeting decided for intensifying awareness campaign to educate the people on the importance of social distancing, wearing masks and maintaining hand hygiene.


In the meeting, DC Dimapur informed that out of the latest test carried out for 350 persons only five positive cases were detected and was optimistic that the number of positive cases would continue to dwindle down in the near future.


Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo reminded the members not to give too much importance on the negative circulation of fake news in different social media platforms.


Deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr Antoly informed that BSL 2 Lab at Referral Hospital would be functional within few days. She informed that two TrueNat has been installed at Medziphema PHC and one more would be arriving and with four TrueNat speed of testing would be increased.


The meeting also informed NGOs who desires to provide food to the quarantine homes for informing the concern authority in advance to avoid double payment and to save Government expenses.


Further, the members also deliberated on the following:
•    Buses or passenger vehicles should not be allowed to ply until June 30
•    Taxis or autos may be allowed to ply on odd-even system with maximum two passengers
•    Market complexes or malls may be allowed to open with strict social distancing and restriction of limited number of customers at a time
•    Barbershops and salons should not be allowed to open for a month 
•    Manipur trucks or buses should be allowed to ply with implementation of regulations
•    With regard to opening of Hongkong Market and New Market, it was decided that basing on the mechanism devised to be opened in stages by DMC, it is suggested that shops may be opened phase wise  in compliance with the protocols and norms of COVID 19
•    Public toilets should be opened as most of the business establishments are open
•    Sanitising of trucks and vehicles at check gates will continue as it is for a month.
