DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): In response to reports of evicted immigrants from Assam entering various parts of Dimapur, Councillor of Ward No. 9 under Dimapur Municipal Council, , has issued a public appeal urging residents and colony councils to remain alert and vigilant.
In a press communiqué issued on Friday, Councillor Lanutoshi S. Yaden noted that while Dimapur is known for its hospitality and peaceful coexistence, safeguarding the safety, security, and demographic stability of local communities is equally essential.
Referring to concerns over the possible unauthorised settlement of displaced individuals in various colonies—including areas within Ward 9—Yaden stressed the need for a coordinated community response.
“I urge all colony councils and residents under Ward 9 to stay alert. If any unfamiliar individuals or groups are seen settling without proper verification, please report the matter immediately to the Office of the Ward Councillor or the nearest police station,” he stated.
He clarified that the appeal is not intended to incite fear or discrimination but is a preventive measure to maintain law and order and avoid future complications.
Yaden also appealed to concerned authorities to initiate verification drives to address the issue at the earliest.
