Dimapur witnessed exceptionally peaceful elections: MLA Tovihoto

Dimapur, July 1 (MExN): MLA and Advisor H Tovihoto Ayemi has extended his congratulations to the State Election Commission (SEC) for the successful conduct of the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections across Nagaland. In a statement released by his media cell, Ayemi praised the dedication and efforts of the SEC, led by the Election Commissioner, and the entire state machinery, including law enforcement agencies and police forces, for ensuring smooth and peaceful elections.

“Dimapur witnessed exceptionally peaceful elections, and due credit must be given to the police force, led by the Police Commissioner, and the district administration, led by the Deputy Commissioner, for effective policing, maintaining law and order, and keeping a painstaking vigil around the clock to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incidents,” stated Ayemi. “I express my immense appreciation to all those responsible for ensuring free and fair elections in Dimapur district.”

Ayemi also commended the general public, civil society organizations, and tribal organizations for their pivotal role in the success of the elections. He highlighted the historic implementation of 33% women's reservation in the urban local bodies, a significant achievement under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

“Under the dynamic leadership of Neiphiu Rio, history has been made by implementing 33% women's reservation in the urban local bodies,” Ayemi noted. “I congratulate the Chief Minister and the PDA Government for facilitating the much-awaited ULB elections. Urban local bodies have been elected at a time when Nagaland state is making progress on all fronts under the good governance of Neiphiu Rio-led PDA Government.”

Ayemi expressed confidence in the strong and spirited alliance between NDPP and BJP, along with other parties, emphasizing that the election of urban local bodies would further strengthen the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA). “With the election of urban local bodies, I believe that the Progressive Democratic Alliance will grow from strength to strength. In collaboration with the ULBs, the government will strive for more development and progress at the grassroots level,” he said.
