One woman was found murdered at 7th Mile, Dimapur on December 24. The victim was found dead at her residence on the evening of December 24.
The police said that the victim bore multiple cut wounds on the body and head. In her late 40s and a mother of two, she was reportedly alone at home with the children away and her husband out for work. As per the police, her dead body was discovered by her husband when he returned home from work in the evening.
Stating that a case of murder has been registered, the police said that investigation was on and the post mortem report was awaited.
PAC-NCD condemns
Meanwhile, the Public Action Committee Naga Council Dimapur has condemned the murder terming it as a heinous crime and a cowardly act.
“The PAC strongly appeal to the investigation agency to arrest the culprit (s) involved at the earliest and award stringent punishment,” stated the PAC NCD in a press release and requested the village authorities to extend all possible help and cooperation to nab the perpetrator(s).
It further expressed concern “on the repeated crime incidences” and appealed the security agencies and the citizens to stay alert to avoid any untoward incidence.
