
Come August 24 and 25, Nagaland’s commercial hub Dimapur also the hub with people from diverse culture would be witnessing a youth festival under the theme ‘Youth Towards a Progressive Society’ at DDSC stadium, Dimapur, which brings in all youths together under one platform to showcase their talents.
The two-day event organised by Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN) in association with M/s MW Enterprise, Dimapur, hopes to bring in variegated youth related programmes including sports, music and fashion and serve as not only collective regalia that dot Dimapur but draw the attention of youths of the state as well as others from the North East.
With the different programmes upto the organizer’s sleeves, it would be worthwhile to get the glimpse of the two-day Youth Festival as it has been planned in such a manner to exhibit integration and diversity and how the same could be celebrated by youths from different communities inhabiting Dimapur and surrounding areas.
Some of the events likely to draw attention include the open penalty shootout, cosplay contest, interschool school singing competition, competitive eating contest, amateur photo competition, live concert and culmination of the two day Youth Festival with the prestigious Miss Dimapur 2018 beauty pageant on August 25 at DDSC stadium Dimapur, starting 5:00 pm onwards.
This year's Miss Dimapur will witness 17 aspiring contestants who would be judged by eminent personalities from different backgrounds. The pageant will be held in an open air after its 25th anniversary held in the year 2015 at the same venue for which the tickets are priced reasonably for gallery @ Rs.500 (admit two) in order to accommodate maximum viewers while on the first day of the festival , the entry fee is fixed at Rs.100 except for those students in uniform (after school). Hosts for both the days include Sungkum Aier, Mengu Soukhrie and Imlee.
Opening ceremony will be on August 24, 9:30 am where the special attraction would be by Nagaland Motorcycle Club (NMC) and performance by the Miss Dimapur 2018 contestants. Cosplayers would be from Nagaland Anime Junkies headed by Babie Natso and also from Dimapur.
The Youth Festival will also have various stalls by upcoming entrepreneurs .
Hoping the Youth Festival would foster the spirit of oneness and unity amongst the youth, the organizer's also felt the need and importance of a strong common foundation deeply rooted on diverse cultures of all communities.
EGoN has called upon all youths of Dimapur to participate and showcase their talents and gain valuable exposure by supporting its endeavour towards making a vibrant Dimapur.
