DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Kewe Mero, a part-time content creator and YouTuber from Dimapur has successfully raised Rs 4,30,447 for 14-year-old Watirenla Longchar, who has been battling lupus disease since 2021.
The donation drive, which ran from August 31 to September 4, 2024, was launched after Watirenla's family, facing financial difficulties, reached out to Mero for assistance with her medical expenses.
Watirenla, a resident of Nokpu Village in Longchem under Mokokchung District, has struggled with the rare and debilitating condition, prompting Mero to step in and create a compelling appeal on his YouTube channel. The video, which garnered widespread support, successfully mobilized generous contributions from the public, resulting in the impressive total amount raised.
Expressing his gratitude, Kewe Mero thanked all the contributors and viewers who supported the cause and kept Watirenla in their prayers. "I am deeply moved by the generosity of the people who came forward to help. Your contributions will make a significant difference in Watirenla's life," Mero stated.
Mero, a sociologist with academic credentials from St. Joseph's College Jakhama, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Bosco College of Teacher's Education, has been involved in various social causes in the past. His efforts in this recent campaign reflect his ongoing commitment to using his platform for meaningful impact.
