Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): The Dimasa Naisho Hosom (DNH), Dhansiripar Sub-Division Nagaland has expressed solidarity with the Dimasa Frontal organisations over the alleged “wrong depiction of the Dimasa tradition/customs and practice in the movie called ‘Semkhor’.” The Dimasa-language movie was directed by Aimee Baruah.
“The contention of it being a fiction doesn’t hold water when the depiction is of the Semsa (Dimasa) of Semkhor. The DNH wonder how could they depict without authenticating the facts in the movie,” stated a press statement from the DNH Dhansiripar Sub-Division President K Naben and General Secretary, Nibison Hasnu.
The DNH further pointed out that contrary to what was depicted in the movie, the Dimasa tribe, “instead of indulging in gender discrimination maintain very unique tradition of male and female clans consisting of 40 male clans and 42 female clans, which are equally given importance.”
A ground zero reporting by NDH, a digital news portal, has depicted that the reality, not the one shown or narrated by the movie director, it asserted.
Accordingly, the DNH joined others in demanding apology to the Dimasas by Baruah.
She seems to utter “anything without knowing what is what about others. Makham jikha is of the Dimasa not a Manipuri language. Does the award for the film Semkhor a deserving case? DNK further posed.
