DIMUL earns Rs.2,43,779.06 in profits during 2007-08

The 11th annual general meeting of the Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited (DIMUL) was held here today at the Central Dairy Plant premises, 7th Mile.

Addressing the farmers, Dr. Y Yisao, Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, said in order to increase the production of milk in order to meet the growing demand of milk and related products in and outside the State, the farmers should develop a sense of competitiveness and responsibility amongst themselves. To enhance milk production the farmers should feed the cattle with indigenous fodder, he stressed and added that these indigenous fodders should be protected and preserved.

He appealed to the farmers to avoid destructive activities and work hard to raise their standard of living and assured that the department would provide all possible help to the cattle farmers. He also cautioned the farmers on avian influenza, which can pass on to human beings through cattle, and advised on rearing chickens cautiously and to consult veterinary doctors very often.

Dr. A Yhokha, Project Director at Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited, advised the union to set targets and achieve them before their silver jubilee, and insisted that the business turnover be increased before the celebration. DIMUL was established in the year 1985. Develop a sense of belonging towards public property or institutions to uplift and to bring about development in the society, he appealed to the farmers, and urged them to utilise the government funds towards growth.

B K Thadani, Managing Director of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Limited, Dimapur, while terming the union a ‘role model’ in the State, said the union had to accelerate its activities and appealed to the farmers to have a ‘progressive mind’. Stating that members are the owners of the cooperatives, he encouraged them to work in an “honest and progressive manner to uplift the union.” He also advised the farmers to avail loans from the banks through the guidance of the DIMUL. Explaining the purpose of Farmers’ Club in villages where the farmers can discuss their problems, he suggested the opening of farmers’ clubs in every village through the assistance of NABARD.

Earlier, the welcome address was proposed by Ng. Moses, Acting Chief Executive Officer, and the annual report presented by Dr. T Zeliang, Chairman of DDCMPU Limited. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Mhasizokho, Assistant Manager, (P&I).

The Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited (DIMUL) has reported a net profit of Rs.2,43,779.06 during the year 2007-08. The membership and milk procurement performance of DIMUL in the year 2008-08 are as follows: 44 numbers of Diary Cooperative Societies, 1795 membership, and 10.33 procurement of milk in lakh litre.

The marketing performances of DIMUL in the year 2007-08 are as follows: 13.13 (lakhs litres) toned milk, 940.86 (‘000 cups) lassi, 318.49 (‘000 cups) dahi, 176.87 (‘000 cups) ice-cream, 1061.50 (kg) ghee and 255.00 (MT) cattle feed.

Kikhruru Diary Cooperative Society, Chumukedima Village, was adjudged the best DCS 2007-08, for 1,23,386 kgs of total quantity of milk supplied during 2007-08, 338kg per yearly average, fat (3.7 %) and SNF (7.8 %) as average quality, Rs.14.93 per kg as average rate, Rs.18.42 lakhs as total amount and with uninterrupted supply, proper record maintenance and no liability.

The best secretary 2007-08 was awarded to Yuvraj, secretary of Nito DCC, Vihikhu, for his performance in regular milk-testing conducted, proper record maintenance, proper coordination with union and society members, and, despite disturbances, continuity of supply and personal involvement to curb the vendors.

Hosta Bahadur of Kikhruru DCS was presented the best producer 2007-08 award, taking into account the highest quantity of supply (15,627 kg), 43kg (PD) as yearly average, Rs.2.34 lakhs as value worth, and no liability.

Baburam Chettri, dairy attendant of DIMUL, was adjudged the best worker of the Union 2007-08, for his outstanding performance of duty and being well disciplined.

The best retailer for 2007-08 was awarded to Prabir Das, for being responsible for the 29,200 litres as total quantity, marketed 80 LDP as yearly average, and Rs.6,51,160 as turnover.

Suresh Jain was adjudged the best distributor for 2007-08, for the total quantity of 803,000 litres marketed, 2,200 LDP as yearly average, and Rs.1,79,06,900 as turnover. The union further inducted Zeno Kire, Chairman of the Kikhruru Diary Cooperative Society, Chumukedima, in its board of directors.
