Kohima, November 24 (MExN): The Diocese of Kohima has mourned the demise of one of its Priests, Rev Fr Dominic Selosie, who was serving as the Assistant Priest at St Mary’s Parish Church – Lozaphuhu since 2021.
He passed away in his sleep probably in the early hours of November 24, informed a condolence message from the Secretary to Bishop, Diocese of Kohima.
Hailing from Lephori village under Phek District, late Fr Dominic was ordained as priest for the Diocese of Kohima on January 7, 2013 by Rev Dr James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima in his village.
With his priestly motto, “By the grace of God I am what I am” (2 Cor. 15:10), before serving in Lozaphuhu, he was an Asst Priest, St Joseph Church - Tseminyu (2013); Asst Priest, St Xavier Church - Jalukie (2013 – 15); Asst Priest, St Thomas Church - Tuensang (2015 – 2017); Asst Priest, St Mary’s Church – Lakhuti (2017 – 2019), Asst Priest, and St Dominic Church – Chiephobozou (2019-2021)
A requiem mass for the departed was held at St Mary’s Parish – Lozaphuhu on Thursday and later the mortal remains of late Fr Dominic were taken to his native village for the people to pay their last respect and for another requiem mass on November 25, the release informed.
Thereafter, his mortal remains will be taken to Diocesan Priests Cemetery at St Joseph Parish – Chümoukedima, it added.
A condolence service will also be held at St Joseph Parish Church – Chümoukedima from 9 am, followed by Holy Eucharist and Final Commendation November 26 to be presided by Rev Dr Thoppil.
