Directives for medical shops under Kohima

Kohima, April 20 (MExN): DC Kohima Shanavas C, IAS in a notification has informed that in compliance with the rules concerning sale of certain drugs selling which are restrictive in nature, all medical/pharmacy shops under Kohima district selling schedule are X or H drugs, as per Rule 65 of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 & Drugs & Cosmetic Rules 1945 are directed to strictly adhere to laid down directives.

Drugs mentioned under Schedule ‘X' & 'H' should be sold only on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription.

The sale of such drugs should be recorded in a separate register mentioning the name and address of the prescriber, patient and the quantity of the drug sold.

All Pharmacies/Medical Stores selling Schedule ‘X' and 'H’ to install CCTV cameras inside and outside the premises of their respective shops within one month period from the date of issue of this Order along with proper footage recording and storage of minimum two month data.

Further, regular checking of the CCTV cameras as well as registers maintained by the Pharmacies/ Medical Stores shall be carried out by the District Drug Controller Authority/ District Enforcement Force, Kohima and a monthly report to be submitted to Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.

“Non-compliance of the directives by any Pharmacies/Medical Stores will invite legal action under penal provisions of the law,” the DC Kohima cautioned.
