Disaster awareness campaign trail in college

Students of Model Christian College getting hands on training on how to tackle disasters. Seen also are the Home Guards assisting the students. This programme was held on August 10.
 
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department in collaboration with the Home Guards, conducted another awareness campaign at Model Christian College in Kohima.
The programme began with a short introductory speech by the Principal Anthony Richa after which a power point presentation was given by Johnny Ruangmei, SPO. The power point presentation concentrated on the basic concept of disaster and also covered topics like global warming, vulnerability of Nagaland to earthquakes etc. Another presentation was made by Jonjibemo Odyuo, Relief and Rehabilitation Coordinator, on the topic ‘School and College safety plan’.
The lectures were followed by demonstrations from the Home Guards. The students were given practical sessions on first aid, search and rescue and fire safety tips. It may be mentioned that the NSDMA in its effort to spread awareness on disaster management is carrying out campaigns in various schools and colleges and aims at covering all educational institutions within this year.
