Disaster Management on Community First Responder

Zunheboto, September 23 (DIPR): A 5-day long training on Disaster Management on Community First Responder was held from September 19 to 23 at Circuit House, Zunheboto. State Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Kohima, Jonjibemo Odyuo and his team were the resource persons.  

During the week long training, the participants were briefed on the role of community first responder, various methods for rescue of victims as an when disaster strikes, search marking system, do's and dont’s, Infection Control and use of materials etc.  

The participants were also given mock drill exercises and practical sessions on various methods for rescue of victims, first aid, impoverished methods of rescue techniques.  

Speaking at the valedictory function, ADC, Zunheboto, Nungsangmenla Imchen, who is also the nodal officer of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), said Zunheboto and Mon are the only districts in Nagaland that have prepared Action Plan under National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The ADC also exhorted the trainers to carry the message to their respective areas, organize group to familiarise the people about disaster management. She asked the participants to be more practical and also make use of social media to update latest information among themselves.  

EAC, Kemciyile, personnel of Civil Defense and Home Guards and participants from all seven blocks under Zunheboto attended the training.
