Disaster management intensive prog held in DGC

Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): An intensive programme on disaster management was conducted at the Dimapur Government College (DGC) premises by a team of 16 personnel led by Hav Lipoksashi from Home Guards and Civil Defence, Dimapur.
Before the practical demonstration, Publicity & Media Cell, DGC in a press release stated that Lipoksashi gave a detailed description about the importance of disaster management and the need of having the knowledge about precautions and also disaster preparedness in the aftermath of disaster. The session started with all the students taking part in a mock evacuation process. This was followed by a two-hour long practical session in relation to four major concerns in the event of disaster like earthquakes, fire, floods etc. It included CPR/choking, emergency methods of rescue, bandaging and splinting. The students were also made to go through the drills to make better sense of the mock drills.
The programme was chaired by Selina Walling, Assistant Prof & HoD, Department of EVS. The rationale of the programme was shared by Biswajit Sarkar, Assistant Professor & HoD, Commerce and vote of thanks was pronounced by N. Temjenmeren, Assistant Professor & Convenor of Disaster Management Committee of the college.
The programme was organized by the Disaster Management Committee of the college and was sponsored by the IQAC.
