Disburse scholarship within 10 days: ANCSU, ENCSU to State govt

Kohima, November 19 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) have appealed the State government to disburse the second and final instalment of the Post Matric Scholarships to Scheduled Tribe students 2019-2020 within 10 days.

In a joint press statement issued on November 19, the Unions said that while understanding the ‘undesirable circumstances’ faced by the government functionaries due to the global pandemic, they are however unsatisfied with the sincerity of the government with regard to the scholarship.

They reminded that the Government of India, Minority of Tribal Affairs (Scholarship Division) had sanctioned an amount of Rs 32,26,37,000 towards second instalment for the year 2019-20 and first instalment (25% of central share) for the year 2020-21, on September 18.

“…the department of Higher Education and the state government has failed to disburse the second and final instalment till date,” the Unions stated.

The ANCSU and ENCSU appealed the department of Higher Education and the state government to understand the scholarship need of the students and immediately complete the requisite procedures to ensure that the second and final instalment for Post Matric Scholarship ST 2019-2020, is disbursed to the students within the next ten days from the issue of their joint press statement.
